SRSL deliver expert advice in Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA), biosecurity planning, macroalgal (seaweed) cultivation techniques and feasibility studies, as well as marine growth assessments and field testing of anti-fouling coatings and technologies.
SRSL also has a unique and strong knowledge-base in marine non-native species (NNS). Our experience has provided us with up-to-date information on non-native species distributions, ecology, and potential methods of control. We have developed good working relationships with a range of marine industries in this respect, including Scottish aquaculture. Importantly, we have produced best practice guidance that puts us ahead of the field in terms of this type of specialist advice. We also provide assistance in the production of detailed biosecurity plans for sites/operations, baseline surveys for plans and measuring the success of biosecurity plans. Training provision for industry/interested parties on how to produce a biosecurity plan can also be delivered by SRSL expert staff.
